Pantheon is a building in Rome which was originally built as a temple to all the gods of Ancient Rome, and rebuilt in about 126 AD during Hadrian's reign.
Since the Renaissance the Pantheon has been used as a tomb. The great painters Raphael and Annibale Carracci, the composer Arcangelo Corelli, and the architect Baldassare Peruzzi were buried inside. In the 15th century, the Pantheon was adorned with paintings: the best-known is the Annunciation by Melozzo da Forlì. In modern times, two kings of Italy were buried in the Pantheon: Vittorio Emanuele II and Umberto I, as well as Umberto's Queen, Margherita. Nowadays the Pantheon is still used as a church. Messas are celebrated there, in particular on important Catholic days of obligation and weddings.

As for the structure, the Pantheon has a very distinctive look and has served as inspiration for many architectural creations over the years. It has a circular plan, with a portico of three rows of granite Corinthian columns in the façade, connected with the Rotunda inside by a rectangular structure. The concrete dome, having a central opening (oculus) to the sky, is the world's largest unreinforced dome. In fact, the Pantheon is one of the best preserved ancient buildings in Rome.
